What is Satire in Films?
Satire Films
Satire in film is a technique employed by writers to
expose and criticize foolishness and corruption of an individual or a society,
by using humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule. It intends to improve
humanity by criticizing its follies and foibles.
Satire is a genre of literature, and sometimes graphic and
performing arts, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up
to ridicule, ideally with the intent of shaming individuals, corporations,
government or society itself, into improvement.
What are the three types of satire?
- Horatian Satire. Chances are, if your aim is only to make
people laugh, it's Horatian satire you're after…
- Juvenalian Satire…
- Menippean Satire…
Most satire has the following characteristics in common:
- Satire relies on humor to bring about social change…
- Satire is most often implied…
- Satire, most often, does not go over individual people…
- The wit and irony of the satire are exaggerated-it is in
the exaggeration that people are made aware of their foolishness…
